SACRAMENTO – On January 8, 2020, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Supervising Counsel David De La Riva and Senior Counsel Andrea Perez, along with Fire Marshal Emergency Services Association (FMESA) Vice President Shelly Fontes, participated via teleconference in the annual All Chiefs Meeting for Cal FIRE.
Typically, the meeting is held at the CALFIRE academy in Ione, however this year, due to the pandemic, the meeting was conducted via Microsoft teams. There were approximately 60 CALFIRE battalion chiefs and captains who all work with communications operators at CALFIRE Emergency Communications Centers across the state.
“This was a very productive meeting that allowed the chiefs and captains to ask CSLEA about contractual issues as well as how to handle workplace scenarios that might not be enumerated in the Unit 7 MOU,” said Perez. “There were very productive and lively discussions with CSLEA as well as CALFIRE legal and labor all giving input. We look forward to this annual meeting as it further fosters a good working relationship between CSLEA and CALFIRE and ultimately is a positive for our members.”
