SACRAMENTO – On December 16, 2020, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Senior Counsel Andrea Perez conducted a basic site representation class for five CSLEA members interested in becoming more involved with their union and working with CSLEA and their supervisors to solve issues that arise in their workplace.
“We had employees from CHP, State Lands Commission, ABC and Lottery,” said Perez. “This was a class held via zoom due to COVID-19 restrictions. While zoom is not the ideal format, it has been working well and facilitates lots of discussion and questions among the group. All participants have the desire and intention to be site reps for CSLEA.”
Perez thanks Melissa Hibbard, Vincent Johnston, Duskin Franz, Cesar Bustos and Mike Melin for their participation and interest in becoming site representatives.
“We are always encouraged by and supportive of our members who want to step up for change and be part of the solution,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “We look forward to working with our members in a more personal setting post pandemic and thank them for taking the site rep class via teleconference.”
“Our basic site rep course works well via teleconference as I can conduct smaller groups, conducive to the members’ schedules and no travel is involved,” said Perez. “This means we can hold site rep training more frequently.”
