SACRAMENTO – On behalf of the Association of Criminalists-DOJ (AC-DOJ) Board of Directors, on September 15, 2021, retired Criminalist Supervisor John Styer presented Latent Print Analyst (LPA) II Julie Smith with a plaque recognizing her contribution as an AC-DOJ board member since August of 2015.
Smith brought years of experience as a labor association board member to her position at AC-DOJ, having served as vice president of her association board and on the contract negotiation team while working at the Modesto Police Department, prior to state service.
“Julie was a valuable contributor to our AC-DOJ board as our special sections representative and we thank her for donating her time, talent, service and expertise to our members,” said AC-DOJ President Sara Penn.
Smith has a master’s degree in forensic science and joined California DOJ in spring of 2015.
“Thank you to Julie for serving on the AC-DOJ Board for five years! By having an active role in AC-DOJ, Julie demonstrated her interest in the future of her career and the future of her colleagues. She cared enough to step up and be a part of solutions! Thank you, Julie,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona.
