FRESNO COUNTY – On January 1, 2022, between 5:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., the California Bureau of Automotive Repair assisted several law enforcement agencies with an operation to address illegal street racing and side-show activities throughout Fresno County. During the operation, all illegal engine modifications and emissions violations were sent to BAR representatives for further inspection as part of the penalty process.
During the operation, law enforcement officers conducted 200 traffic stops. The results include:
22 vehicles impounded
- 133 tickets were issued
- 3 speed violations
- 1 right of way violation
- 1 DUI arrest
- 21 exhaust violations
62 equipment violations - 51 infractions
- 4 felony arrests (evading and possession of a firearm)
21 BAR inspections
Agencies that took part in this operation include:
- Fresno PD,
- Clovis PD,
- Fresno County Sheriff’s Office,
- CHP,
- BAR
In summary, officers issued 138 total citations and impounded 22 vehicles.
