IONE – On February 2, 2022, CALFIRE Communications Operators training at the Ione Fire Academy received a visit and union presentation from Fire Marshal and Emergency Services Association (FMESA) Second Vice President and CALFIRE Communications Operator Shelly Fontes.
“It’s always nice to speak to our newest Comm Ops and welcome them to CALFIRE and our union,” said Fontes. “We welcomed six new members to FMESA and the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA). In addition to sharing the benefits, services, and safety net that CSLEA and FMESA offer, I had PEER support stop by and they brought in the dogs! It was nice to meet everyone and to answer questions. We have a very important job as CALFIRE Communications Operators and I’m hoping I was able to offer support and encouragement to our newest members as they train.”
