SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY – On March 11, 2022, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office received information that wanted felon Michael Fordyce, 37, of Paso Robles was spotted in the area of the 600 block of South Ocean Avenue in Cayucos. Fordyce was wanted for a felony probation violation. When deputies arrived on scene, Fordyce was gone but his car remained at that location. Deputies searched the vehicle and discovered a firearm inside the car.
An extensive search was conducted of the area by the Sheriff’s Office, a CHP helicopter and a State Parks’ K9. After approximately four hours, Fordyce was found on the beach at the south end of Cayucos. He was arrested and taken into custody without incident.
“Pulling available resources together and devoting the time to search for wanted felons evading capture helps to keep our communities safer. It can be a dangerous task and we are fortunate to have brave men and women in law enforcement who are willing to do the job,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona.
Fordyce was booked into County Jail for numerous charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm, a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, resisting a law enforcement officer, and violating his probation.
