SAN LUIS OBISPO – On August 1, 2022, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and its affiliate, Hospital Police Association of California (HPAC) welcomed approximately 20 new state hospital police officers who are training at the Department of State Hospital’s (DSH) Academy in San Luis Obispo. Upon completion of their training, the officers will be assigned to one of five State Hospitals.
Representatives from CSLEA included Unit-A Vice President Kenny Ehrman, Supervising Counsel Dave De La Riva, and Secretary Chris Ehrman. In attendance from HPAC were HPAC Board Members Ezra Cosby and Francisco Moreno, both hospital police officers at Coalinga State Hospital.
“CSLEA and HPAC conducted a new employee orientation in which the officers were able to ask questions about HPAC and CSLEA,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “Our HPAC representatives were able to talk to the officers about what to expect in their new careers and our CSLEA representatives were able to explain the important role CSLEA and HPAC have played in assisting hospital police officers. No State Hospital police officer should be without CSLEA union membership and the benefits, including a proven legal defense fund, it provides. We welcome the officers to their new careers.”
