It is with great sadness that CSLEA announces the untimely passing of former CSLEA member and Department of Parks and Recreation Captain, Firefighter/Security Officer Howard Sanford. Howard is survived by his wife Linda, two sons and two grandsons. Howard was a 24-year employee of Parks and Recreation and worked at Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument/Hearst Castle. At the time of his passing, Howard had only been retired for six months.
Howard was a dedicated professional and was of great assistance to CSLEA in addressing labor issues he and the Firefighter/Security Officer staff faced each day at Hearst Castle. Howard helped make Hearst Castle a better and safer place not only for his co-workers but also for the thousands who continue to visit the Castle each year.
“On behalf of CSLEA, I thank Howard and send condolences to his family. He helped make my job easier and it was a great pleasure to know Howard and work with him” said CSLEA Legal Counsel David De La Riva.
For your consideration, Howard’s family has set up a Go Fund Me account to assist with expenses associated with Howard’s passing (see link below).
