SANTA ANA– On March 14, 2023, California Association of Criminal Investigators (CACI) President George Tiongson and California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Senior Counsel Jim Vitko met with about 30 Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) investigators from Southern California. During the meeting, CACI President Tiongson updated members on a variety of topics relating to CSLEA and CACI. He also discussed the benefits of union membership to include the benefits of LDF. Senior Counsel Vitko also presented an overview of legal issues related to critical incidents and officer involved shooting investigations.
“Thank you to the DCC investigators who attended our session. It is important that we see one another given that we are employed throughout this very large state,” said Tiongson. “We plan a similar session for DCC investigators in Northern California as well.”
“It is always beneficial for peace officers to be aware of issues relating to the use of force, particularly with recent changes in legislation. Today’s discussion highlighted the need for representation should a critical incident occur and the value of having CSLEA’s Legal Defense Fund.” said Vitko. “It was great to get together and converse.”
