ARBUCKLE – On June 7, 2023, the California Department of Justice Crime Scene Response Unit responded to assist in the investigation into the deaths of two individuals in what the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office suspects is a case of murder-suicide.
Shortly after midnight, Colusa County Sheriff’s Office deputies, as well as allied agencies, were dispatched to the 6700 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Arbuckle regarding a domestic dispute involving multiple victims with stab wounds. When law enforcement officers arrived, they found Emma Rosales, 34, and Jose Rosales-Cruz, 35, unconscious with life threatening injuries. Despite life-saving measures, the two were later pronounced dead on scene.
Detectives from the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office as well as the California Department of Justice Crime Scene Response Unit responded to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths. According to the sheriff’s office, Mr. Rosales’ injuries appear to be self-inflicted and the deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide.
“Responding to crime scenes, especially ones in which involve violence and the deaths of multiple individuals can be very difficult. We thank our CSLEA members at California DOJ who collect, preserve and process evidence to assist law enforcement investigations, we know the job is not an easy one.”
