WEST SACRAMENTO – The California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and the CHP Public Safety Dispatchers Association (CHP-PSDA) extend a warm union membership welcome to five dispatchers training at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento.
CSLEA Senior Counsel Andrea Perez and CHP-PSDA Vice President Victor Tovar conducted a new employee orientation at the site on September 25, 2023. The meeting allowed the union representatives to introduce themselves, explain the benefits and services of union membership and to discuss ways in which they assist dispatchers during the course of their careers.
“The job of a public safety dispatcher is quite demanding and complicated. We work both as a safety net and support system for our union members,” said Perez. “In addition to that, there’s the added benefits of having access to a legal defense fund, representation, a basic $15,000 life insurance benefit, scholarships, an exclusive membership discounts program, and an attorney that is one phone call or email away. We invest our time and energy into their working conditions, pay and benefits.”
The dispatchers currently training at the academy are assigned to communication centers in
Merced, Ukiah, Riverside, San Diego, and Sacramento.
