Yesterday, December 12, 2023, CalHR issued the long-awaited pay letter to implement retroactive and prospective salary increases for Unit 7 represented and excluded employees. A copy of the letter may be accessed at the link below. Although most S07 and M07 determinations have been made regarding entitlement to Special Salary Adjustments, CalHR has deferred establishing SSAs for excluded employees at the Department of Justice, Department of Parks and Recreation and the Department of Fish and Wildlife. Unit 7 peace officers who have been at top step for a minimum of 12 months at these agencies are receiving SSAs in the amount of 8% of salary effective July 1, 2023. CalHR will make a determination whether to extend all or a portion of the SSAs to excluded employees at these departments.
There are still pay letters which must be issued to implement differential pays including training officer and non-sworn longevity pay. The letter issued yesterday did address the conversion of law enforcement liaison pay to salary for Hospital Police Officers at the Department of State Hospitals and Peace Officer Is at the Department of Developmental Services. Other letters are anticipated to be issued in January and February 2024.
