SACRAMENTO COUNTY – On April 22, 2024, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) announced the results of a three-day undercover chat operation by the Sacramento Valley Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force in which undercover detectives posed as children 13 years old and younger, and were solicited for sex online.
The operation resulted in 24 arrests and utilized nearly 100 officers from 21 different law enforcement agencies including the:
- Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office,
- Rancho Cordova Police Department,
- Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office,
- Citrus Heights Police Department,
- Sacramento Police Department,
- San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office,
- Elk Grove Police Department,
- Folsom Police Department,
- Placer County Sheriff’s Office,
- Rocklin Police Department,
- Placer County District Attorney’s Office,
- El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office,
- California Highway Patrol,
- California Department of Justice,
- Sacramento County Probation,
- Federal Bureau of Investigation – Sacramento,
- Homeland Security Investigations,
- Sutter County District Attorney’s Office,
- Turlock Police Department,
- Tracy Police Department,
- and the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspects were arrested for various crimes including:
- PC 288.3(a) – Contact a minor with the intent of sex (Felony);
- PC 288.2(a)(2) – Harmful matter sent to a child (Felony);
- PC 288.4(a)(1) – Arranging a meeting with a minor (Misdemeanor);
- PC 664/288(a) – Attempt lewd act with a child under the age of 14 (Felony);
- PC 664/288(b)(1) – Lewd acts with a minor by force or fear (Felony);
- PC 664/311.4(c) – attempted child pornography production (Felony);
- and PC 30605(a) – Illegal possession of assault weapon (Felony).
The suspects lived in Woodland, Stockton, Fairfield, Elk Grove, Tracy, North Highlands, Sacramento, Antioch, Modesto, Woodland, Carmichael, Placer County, Lodi, Campbell, Vacaville, Fremont, and Martinez.
