SHASTA COUNTY – On May 10, 2024, the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office announced that Jacqulin L. Emery (AKA Jacqulin Smith) has been charged with the following felonies:
- Theft by False Pretenses,
- False Personation,
- Identity Theft,
and misdemeanors for
- Practicing Nursing without a License,
- and Displaying a Fraudulent License.
The charges follow an investigation by the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA). DCA’s investigation determined that Emery allegedly posed as a Registered Nurse at a Shasta County medical facility late last year, without having a RN license. Emery is accused of using the stolen identity of a licensed RN with a similar name to secure employment as an RN from October 2023 to January 2024. During her employment Emery made approximately $20,000. The arrest was conducted by DCA, with assistance from the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigations.
“The work of DCA investigators often goes unnoticed by the general public, but these law enforcement professionals work daily to protect consumers from harm. We are appreciative of their work and thank them for their service,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona.
