WEST SACRAMENTO – On May 17, 2024, 10 public safety dispatchers training at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento met with union representatives from the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and CHP-Public Safety Dispatchers Association (CHP-PSDA) and signed up for union membership.
CSLEA Senior Counsel Andrea Perez and CHP-PSDA Vice President Victor Tovar presented the dispatchers with union information including benefits and services of membership. Tovar is a veteran CHP dispatcher and knows the value and support that union membership offers to those employed in first responder and public safety positions.
Perez is the primary CSLEA attorney who represents members in the CHP public safety dispatcher position and enjoys meeting those new to CSLEA membership. “I like to make the new dispatchers aware that we are just an email or phone call away. Theirs is a job that is intense, sometimes very stressful, and sometimes they just need to reach out with questions and concerns. CSLEA and CHP-PSDA are very supportive and can be of great assistance to them throughout their careers,” said Perez.
The dispatchers will be working at CHP Communication Centers in Fresno, Los Angeles, Vallejo, Monterey, Rancho Cordova, and San Bernardino.
CSLEA and CHP-PSDA welcomes their newest members, wish them much success, and stand ready to assist them.
