In-Service Training Provides Opportunity to Connect with Members Statewide
SACRAMENTO – On August 28, 2024, CSLEA Chief Counsel Kasey Clark and Field Representative Marco Castro met with the statewide staff of Employment Development Department investigators at their Headquarters Office in Sacramento. Clark gave a detailed presentation on the history and status of AB 2872, the bill sponsored by Insurance Commissioner Lara which seeks equal pay and ongoing parity between CDI investigators and Department of Justice special agents. Clark outlined what the likely impact would be to other Unit 7 investigators should the bill be signed by the Governor. Clark also spoke about the significant difficulties the State and local agencies are having in recruiting and retaining employees, especially peace officers, and what the landscape might look like for collective bargaining in 2026.
The meeting was coordinated by Castro and CSLEA Site Representative EDD Investigator Daniel Schmidt who stated, “At this time as we continue to recover from the COVID pandemic it is important to get together in person so we can bond as a unit.”
