The California Department of Justice assisted with this investigation
PLEASANTON – On September 12, 2024, the Pleasanton Police Department arrested a woman suspected in the fatal stabbing Edevion White, 32, of Pleasanton. The stabbing occurred on May 1, 2023, at a residence on Owens Drive.
The suspect, identified as Kennedy Stith, 27, was arrested at her home in Oakland and was later booked at Santa Rita Jail for Penal Code Section 187, Homicide.
It was initially reported the victim was fatally stabbed during a robbery by two male suspects wearing ski masks. However, through a year-long investigation, Pleasanton detectives determined this claim was untrue. The victim and the suspect were known to each other.
The Pleasanton Police Department expressed its appreciation to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, as well as the California Department of Justice and California Highway Patrol’s Special Operations Unit, for their assistance with this investigation.
“The victim’s family and community are likely feeling a sense of relief knowing that a suspected killer has been taken into custody. Thank you to our law enforcement partners who work to protect the public,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona.
