OROVILLE – On January 10, 2025, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Chief Counsel Kasey Clark, Association of California Wildlife Officers (ACWO) Vice President Max Roland and CSLEA Member Services Representative Marco Castro met with 25 cadets as they began their training at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Academy in Butte County. The purpose of the visit was to introduce the cadets to their union and discuss the importance of union membership.
“The cadets are embarking upon an intense seven and half months of training and we wanted to share with them how ACWO and CSLEA can support them, now and throughout their careers as wildlife officers,” said Castro. “It is important that they have the right protection in place as they become law enforcement officers.”
The union representatives gave an overview on the structure and services provided by CSLEA and ACWO and stressed the importance of having access to a legal defense fund by the time the cadets hit the street for field training.
ACWO and CSLEA congratulates all of the cadets on their achievements in starting the academy and welcomes the majority of them to union membership.
