“The number of illegal operations involving cannabis and controlled substances in California is daunting. Local, state and federal law enforcement officers have their work cut out for them, and we appreciate their efforts to combat these crimes as it contributes to public safety and the health and well-being of our communities and quality of life.”

COSTA MESA – On April 1, 2025, the Laguna Beach Police Department, agents from the California Department of Cannabis Control, and an investigator from the California Tax and Fee Administration, executed a search warrant at a warehouse in Costa Mesa.
The search followed a previous search warrant executed at Cinder Box Smoke Shop in Laguna Beach in early 2025. Through their diligent efforts, investigators located the warehouse, which was suspected to be used as a hub for the illegal distribution of cannabis and psilocybin mushrooms.
Upon executing the warrant, officers detained and identified several suspects connected to the illegal sales of controlled substances. Approximately 451 pounds of cannabis products were recovered, which included loose marijuana buds, THC concentrates, and edibles. Additionally, approximately 54 pounds of psilocybin mushroom products were seized, including chocolate bars, micro-dose candies, and full mushrooms.
The investigation remains ongoing, and charges related to the unlawful sale of controlled substances are pending.
