Legislative and Budget Update
Before breaking for Spring Recess the week of April 14th, the Legislature cleared hundreds of bills through policy committees as part of the annual legislative process. CSLEA remains actively engaged—opposing a number of bills and strongly supporting many others that impact our members. Key issues currently on our radar include workplace surveillance, peace officer personnel records, proposals to expand drinking hours in hospitality zones, and securing adequate funding for cannabis enforcement efforts.
At the same time, the state budget process is unfolding. The Governor is expected to release the May Revise in the coming weeks. Early indicators suggest a worsening budget outlook, driven by slowing economic conditions and reduced federal funding. CSLEA will continue to lobby both for and against legislation in order to protect and advance member interests, while closely monitoring the budget landscape. We will keep leadership informed as more information becomes available.
