CALAVERAS COUNTY – On May 11, 2025, at approximately 9:40 a.m., Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched for a welfare check regarding a disturbance in the 7000 block of McCauley Road in Valley Springs. Arriving at the scene, deputies found a deceased man inside the home. Cody Michael Bridges, 24, of Valley Springs, was at the house when deputies arrived and was detained during the initial investigation.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division was dispatched to continue the investigation, with the assistance of the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office and the California Department of Justice. Investigators worked into the next morning, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. Cody Bridges was subsequently arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail for homicide.
The investigation is expected to continue for several weeks, as investigators examine and review all evidence.
