MOUNT SHASTA – On June 18, 2025, at approximately 3 p.m., the Mount Shasta Police Department and the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office dispatch centers began receiving reports from the public that a suspect wanted in connection with an assault with a deadly weapon involving a knife that occurred in the area of City Park on June 17, 2025, was possibly walking near W.A. Barr Road, west of the Lake Siskiyou Campground entrance.
An officer from the Mount Shasta Police Department and an officer from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife responded to the area. The officers were able to quickly identify 42-year-old Stephen August Haff who was taken into custody without incident.
Haff was transported to the Siskiyou County Jail, where he was booked on two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one felony count of making criminal threats.
The Mount Shasta Police Department extended its appreciation to the public, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the CHP – Mount Shasta for their assistance.
