Budget Conflict Creates Uncertainty Over Scheduled Pay Increases

As CSLEA previously reported, there have been a number of meetings between the CSLEA Negotiations Team and CalHR representatives concerning conceptual discussions for pay concessions based on the Governor’s May Revise. CSLEA last met and exchanged proposals on Thursday June 12th. The following day the Legislature adopted a framework budget which preserves the scheduled pay increases, including the 2% increase scheduled to take effect July 1, 2025. As the Governor has yet to sign off on the budget deal, there remains uncertainty on the future of employee compensation.
Against this backdrop, the CSLEA Negotiations Team will be briefing the Board of Directors at its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, June 18th. The Board will be asked to take positions based on specified contingencies, including whether to authorize a side letter mitigating the impact of pay concessions should the Governor’s Administration continue to require them regardless of the current budget deal.
CSLEA will provide updates as they become available.
