Posted on July 2, 2025

Three suspects charged with murder after body of Davis Creek man was found

“Criminalists at the California Department of Justice assist homicide detectives at a local level to lend their expertise, collect and examine evidence, and to testify in court if called upon.  Their work is a valuable contribution to investigations, public safety, and criminal justice.”

MODOC COUNTY – According to the Modoc County District Attorney’s Office, on June 30, 2025, three people were charged with murder in connection with the death of Emmanuel Pochylski, 41, of Davis Creek, whose body was found in a shallow grave near the Plum Valley campground on June 27th.   Pochylski had been reported missing by concerned citizens who had not seen him since June 11th and observed suspicious activity at a residence in Davis Creek.

A search warranted was executed at a residence along Highway 395 in which sheriff’s deputies located evidence that suggested Pochylski was deceased. His body was then found in a shallow grave at a campground.

The investigation led to the arrest of Durrell Chambers, 37, Christina Love, 39, and Benjamin Kiser, 27, for the death of Pochylski.

The three suspects face multiple charges, including willful, deliberate, and premeditated murder, with special allegations of murder for financial gain and conspiracy to commit a crime.
