BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA – With the proud support of the California Association of Criminal Investigators (CACI), California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) member Raul Hernandez recently participated in the 2025 World Police and Fire Games, held June 27 through July 6, 2025, in Birmingham, Alabama.
California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Investigator Hernandez competed with Team Sac-VICE, a squad primarily comprised of Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office personnel, with additional teammates from a variety of California agencies and a few local players from the Birmingham area. Sac-VICE finished the tournament 1–4, securing a notable victory against a competitive team from Brazil.

In a hard-fought match for the bronze medal, Sac-VICE took on a team from South Wales. While the game ended in a loss, the exchange didn’t stop at the final whistle. Investigator Hernandez had the chance to trade jerseys with a Welsh player in a gesture of international camaraderie.
Outside of the tournament, Investigator Hernandez explored Birmingham’s cultural and historical landmarks, including a visit to the Civil Rights Institute. The Athlete’s Village in downtown Birmingham offered a vibrant space for competitors from around the world to connect, share experiences, and celebrate the public safety professions.
“This experience would not have been possible without the support of CACI and CSLEA,” said Investigator Hernandez. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to represent our organization and our state on a global stage.”
