SACRAMENTO – In an effort to introduce new California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) licensing registration examiners (LREs) to the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and the California Organization of Licensing Registration Examiners (COLRE), CSLEA Senior Counsel Ryan Navarre spoke with seven LREs on September 2, 2025.
The purpose of the conversation was to familiarize the new LREs with the union that represents them and to provide information on the benefits and services that union membership provides.
“Licensing registration examiners have a very important public safety job that assists in keeping us all safer out on the road. Their jobs put them in vehicles with people they don’t know and who have various levels of driving skills,” said Navarre. “The sheer nature of their jobs puts them at risk and it’s important that they have union representation and access to a legal defense fund. We wanted to make them aware of the support they have as a union member and introduce them to their union representative. We wish them a happy and safe career and stand ready to assist our members.”
