WEST SACRAMENTO – Five California Highway Patrol (CHP) public safety dispatchers training at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento signed up for union membership on October 13, 2025, following a new employee orientation presented by representatives from the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and the CHP-Public Safety Dispatchers Association (CHP-PSDA).
“It was a nice to greet our newest public safety dispatcher members and to share the benefits and services that we at CSLEA provide. We talk about the importance of supporting CSLEA, the organization that negotiates their contracts and provides representation should the need arise,” said CSLEA Senior Counsel Andrea Perez. “CHP-PSDA Vice President Victor Tovar joined me in introducing the union, answering questions, and giving some history on how we’ve helped our CHP public safety dispatchers along the way.”
The public safety dispatchers currently training at the Academy in West Sacramento are from Communication Centers in Sacramento, Los Angeles, El Centro, and Ukiah.
“We thank our newest CSLEA members for recognizing the benefits and services our union provides, and the importance of having access to a CSLEA attorney. My best to them as they train for their very important roles as first responders,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “a Public Safety Dispatcher job can be intense, demanding, exhausting and rewarding – and we are here to support them and continue our work to improve their pay and benefits.”
