CAMARILLO – On October 25, 2025, California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agents and officers from the Camarillo Police Department cited a 39-year-old man for furnishing alcohol to someone under the age of 21.
The citation was the result of a minor decoy shoulder tap operation conducted at four businesses in the city of Camarillo. The suspect faces a fine and community service for a first violation.
In the operation, decoys, under the direct supervision of law enforcement, approached patrons entering stores and asked them to purchase alcohol for them with money given to them by the decoys. The decoys also indicated that they were underage and cannot purchase alcohol.
“It’s important for adults to know that buying alcohol for someone under 21 is not something to do as a favor, it can lead to dangerous results such as DUIs, assaults, and tragically, deaths,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona. “California ABC agents and their local law enforcement partners conduct shoulder tap operations to educate the public and stop those who think purchasing alcohol for someone under 21 does no harm.”
