CSLEA and SPPOAC welcome 11 new members

BUTTE COUNTY- On December 29, 2025, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and State Parks Peace Officers Association (SPPOAC) representatives conducted a New Employee Orientation for 11 State Park peace officer ranger cadets at the academy at Butte College.
SPPOAC President Matt Yarbrough, CSLEA Chief Counsel Kasey Clark and Member Services Representative Marco Castro introduced themselves to the cadets and discussed the benefits and services associated with union membership including a $15,000 life insurance benefit, immediate access to an attorney, a proven Legal Defense Fund (LDF), scholarships, and grievance and complaint representation.
Yarbrough, a State Parks peace officer, knows first hand how demanding the weeks ahead will be for the cadets. He shared his experiences as a ranger and as a union representative, and stressed how important it is for a peace officer to have union assistance during one’s career.
Chief Counsel Clark discussed why a member might need to access the LDF and how accessible CSLEA attorneys are to members.
Castro talked to the cadets about additional union benefits including CSLEA’s exclusive member discounts program. He referred cadets to CSLEA’s website where they can update their member information, find out more about insurance programs offered at group rates, and contact CSLEA.
All 11 cadets in attendance recognized the value of union membership and joined CSLEA and SPPOAC for the protection and support it offers to members.
CSLEA and SPPOAC stand ready to assist their new members and wish them the best during the demanding months ahead at the academy.
