ROSEVILLE – On March 16, 2026, the Placer County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against 17 defendants in connection with a recent drug trafficking case referred to as Operation Meltdown. Charges range from conspiracy, transportation for sale of bulk quantities of methamphetamine, and more.
On March 12th, a coordinated multi-agency enforcement operation, spearheaded by the Placer County Sheriff Department, California Department of Justice, and the Placer County Special Prosecutions Unit, was conducted where search and arrest warrants were simultaneously executed at 25 locations across the region. Seventeen individuals were arrested and transported to the Placer County jail.
Placer County District Attorney’s Office Special Prosecutions Unit will be prosecuting the multi-defendant case for the region.
The defendants appeared in court, where some were appointed counsel and others retained private attorneys. Each defendant entered a plea of not guilty and is set for further proceedings on various dates in the weeks ahead.
