WEST SACRAMENTO – On March 30, 2026, dispatchers training at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento discussed the value of union membership with representatives from the California Statewide Law Enforcements Association (CSLEA) and the CHP-Public Safety Dispatchers Association (CHP-PSDA). Appreciating the importance of joining a union that fights for them, all six dispatchers signed up for membership.
CSLEA Senior Counsel Andrea Perez and CHP-PSDA Vice President Victor Tovar met with the dispatchers to introduce themselves, discuss union benefits and services, and answer any questions.
“It’s our jobs to protect and serve our members and we’re proud of the assistance we provide,” said Perez. “Our CHP dispatcher members work hard to protect the public, they shouldn’t have to worry about protecting themselves should something unfortunate come into question while they perform their first responder duties. In addition to having easy access to a CSLEA attorney, their membership also supports the work that we do to improve workplace conditions, salary and benefits. We stand ready to assist our newest members.”
The dispatchers will be assisting 911 callers and CHP officers at communication centers in the San Francisco Bay Area, Humboldt and Yreka.
