SACRAMENTO -On May 11, 2026, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) conducted a site representation class for members interested in learning more about their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and their rights in the workplace.
For the convenience of members, the class was held via video conference. The instructors included CSLEA Senior Counsels Andrea Perez and Kja Harper-GoPaul. In attendance were CSLEA members who work for the California Department of Justice, State Hospitals, State Lands Commission, State Parks, Lottery, and Department of Transportation, and Contractors State License Board.
Members in attendance learned about the grievance process and what types of concerns or issues constitute a grievance versus a complaint that can be handled in a different manner.
Some of the instruction included:
the structure of CSLEA and its 18 affiliates,
the grievance process,
the right to have a representative,
the CSLEA website and mobile app,
how to update contact information and
where to find the CSLEA Know Your Rights videos.
Members who completed the class and submit a class completion form will receive a certificate of completion from California Statewide Law Enforcement Association. Those in attendance who wish to become a site representative at their worksite should contact their affiliate president for consideration and appointment.
Site representatives play an important role in helping settle workplace disputes and may work with supervisors to address conflicts and disagreements in a professional and collaborative manner.
