ARBUCKLE – On June 26, 2026, at approximately 4:53 p.m., deputies with the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office responded to Sills Road in Arbuckle following a report of a possible deceased person.  Upon arrival, deputies located two adult males who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victims have been identified as Jason Edward Carr, 48, of Dunnigan, and Richard Leon Mathies Jr., 36, of Yolo County.

Sheriff’s Office detectives, assisted by the Colusa County Task Force and California Department of Justice criminalists, responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

Based on the initial information, investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.
