CSLEA Legal Counsel Andrea Perez graduated cum laude from Sacramento State University with a degree in Psychology. She obtained her juris doctorate from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. While in law school, Ms. Perez served as Associate Managing Editor for the Transactional Lawyer Law Review and was a Certified Law Student for Community Legal Services, where, in addition to her course work, she represented indigent clients in family law and juvenile dependency matters. After passing the bar, Ms. Perez worked for a sole practitioner in the areas of family law and juvenile dependency. Since joining the CSLEA Legal Division in 2005, Ms. Perez has successfully represented members in the grievance process and in arbitration, including gaining the reinstatement of a member’s alternate work schedule. She has represented members in multiple internal affairs interviews and Skelly hearings and in disciplinary appeals before the California State Personnel Board. Ms. Perez has negotiated many successful settlement agreements resulting significant penalty reductions.
