I began my career with the California Highway Patrol as a Public Safety Dispatcher in 1998. I have always worked at Golden Gate Communications Center. I have served on the CHP–PSDA board for approximately 13 years. Most of my duties as Board Member and Site Representative consist of negotiating fair rules at our command, making sure departmental and contractural rules are followed, and keeping members informed of association operations that directly affect them. Being a Board/Site representative, at times, can be a thankless job, however, when you are able to assist your coworker with an injustice, that is very rewarding. CSLEA and CHP–PSDA have accomplished as much as possible for members, from raises, to keeping our retirement safe, to maintaining control of our health care costs. The economy and politics of state employees continue to be scrutinized by the public. That makes these accomplishments difficult. But we as Site Representatives get involved and tried to make a difference. That is very important. I am proud to serve Golden Gate Communications Center as their representative. I am very hopeful for the future of our classification.
