Shane LaVigne is a seasoned advocate with over two decades of experience operating at the highest levels of politics and advocacy. Before founding LaVigne Strategies, he was a partner at California’s largest lobbying firm, where he led multiple key practices including Financial Services and Insurance and Business and Employer Representation.
Over his career, Shane has represented some of the largest national associations and companies before the California State Legislature and state agencies. His in-depth experience allows him to offer clients strategic government relations and public affairs services that deliver measurable results. Shane’s work includes helping clients with legislative and media strategies, enhancing their political operations, and raising their profiles. Shane has worked on several of California’s largest policy matters including representing gig economy companies and shaping policy conversations around the future of work, insurance reform, reforming California’s workers’ compensation system, and crafting legislation to diversify the state’s clean energy portfolio and advocating for climate change policies to protect the state from wildfires. Additionally, Shane has been a leading advocate in public safety labor and represents one of California’s largest law enforcement practices.
His background includes extensive involvement in various facets of California’s political process, where he has served as a political and fundraising consultant, Capitol staff member for then State Senator, now Congressman, Juan Vargas (D-San Diego), and legislative advocate at a boutique lobbying firm. All this experience allows Shane to provide clients with an incredibly comprehensive strategy and approach to advocacy.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Shane has a strong educational background, holding a bachelor’s degree in Political Philosophy from Syracuse University – where he was also a scholarship athlete and member of the football team. Shane also holds a Juris Doctorate from Western Michigan University, and master’s degrees from Western Seminary. He is also deeply involved in his community, volunteering with the Prison Fellowship program at a maximum-security prison and serving as a volunteer hospital chaplain at a local hospital. Shane resides in Sacramento with his wife, Sarah, and their three children, Beau, Troy, and Ava.
