SOUTH LAKE TAHOE – On February 26, 2016, California Alcoholic Beverage Control Agents and South Lake Tahoe Police posted a 20-day liquor license suspension at American Gas on Lake Tahoe Blvd. The suspension is a result of an undercover operation conducted November 12th, 2015 in which the business owner, Stefka Dimitrova, was arrested after allegedly selling a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine. The business is prohibited from selling any alcoholic beverage for 20 days.
The Notice of Suspension at American Gas in South Lake Tahoe follows on the heels of a 30-day Notice of Suspension posted at the Ketmoree Thai Restaurant & Bar in Davis for conducting a “disorderly house.” ABC agents worked with Davis police officers after a high number of calls for service regarding fights, assaults, public drunkenness and disturbing the peace at the business. On September 9, 2015, a patron was stabbed to death during a fight inside Ketmoree .
In addition, the Inferno Sports Bar& Grill in Citrus Heights is now closed following a lengthy undercover drug investigation by ABC agents in which two employees were arrested after allegedly selling cocaine on the premises. Inferno was closed February 18, 2015 after ABC agents served search and arrest warrants and the city of Citrus Heights issued penalties against the bar & grill’s business permit.
“That’s three businesses in eight days,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona. “There are far more businesses licensed to sell alcohol than there are agents to check up on them, and February 18th through 26th demonstrates the need for agents to be going inside these establishments and verifying that all laws are being followed and that patrons and the neighbors of these establishments are safe.”
