From Roseville to Los Angeles, ABC Agents Post Notices of Suspension

SACRAMENTO – On February 9, 2017, California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agents posted Notices of Suspension at establishments in Roseville, Berkeley, King City and Los Angeles.  The Notices of Suspension vary in length and prevent the businesses from selling alcohol for a period of time due to violations of ABC laws.

“ABC agents are spread pretty thin when you consider the number of establishments that sell alcohol in this state,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona.   “They do a great job of working with local law enforcement departments and going undercover into these places to be sure the law is being followed.  When ABC laws are broken, there’s a risk that people are going to hurt, whether it’s underage drinking and/or disorderly conduct.”

The largest suspension was handed to El Troquero in Los Angeles.   ABC agents and Los Angeles police posted a 365-day notice following an investigation the revealed numerous violations involving the illegal service of alcohol and lewd conduct.  The bar allowed its servers to charge customers extra money for alcoholic beverages in exchange for keeping them company.   Bar employees also participated in illegal lewd conduct in public view of patrons during business hours.

A 25-day Notice of Suspension was posted at Fat Slice Pizza in Berkeley as the result of an October 2016 minor decoy operation conducted by ABC agents, in which a minor purchased alcohol.  That was the business’ second violation for selling alcoholic beverages to a minor within three years.

Agents also posted 20-day Notices of Suspension at the Train Station Supper Club in Roseville and Eve’s Enchiladas Restaurant Authentic Mexican Fook in King City.  The suspension at the Train Station Supper Club follows an investigation into ongoing disorderly conduct at the business and failure to operate as a restaurant.  Roseville police have responded to numerous calls at the establishment, including one in which multiple people were shot.

The restaurant in Kings City received its Notice of Suspension for serving alcohol to minors in 2016 and for illegally selling distilled spirits while only holding beer and wine privileges.
