LONG BEACH – On March 17, 2021, California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agents posted a 30-day-suspension notice at Lona’s City Limits Cantina in the City of Long Beach. The business is prohibited from selling, serving and allowing consumption of alcoholic beverages during the suspension period. In addition to the 30-day-suspension, the license is revoked with the revocation stayed for three years, and if the licensee allows disorderly activity during the next three years, then ABC has authority to take further disciplinary action that could result in revocation.
Long Beach and Signal Hill Police Department officers responded to numerous calls for service at this location. The disturbance calls included noise violations, fights, and a patron being shot at the premises.
“ABC licensees have a responsibility to their employees, patrons and community to provide a safe and no-nuisance environment,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona. “Local law enforcement departments often call upon ABC agents to assist them with ABC licensed businesses that are not complying with the conditions of their license in order to improve safety and the surroundings.”
