LOS ANGELES– On April 29, 2021, California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agents posted a revocation notice at Max Liquor, located at 2130 Sawtelle, Suite 111A, in the City of Los Angeles. Effective immediately, the business is prohibited from selling alcoholic beverages. The revocation was a result of numerous sales to minors over a two-year period.
“ABC agents, along with their local law enforcement partners investigate businesses that violate ABC laws and as a result of those violations, threaten public safety,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Alan Barcelona. “Routinely selling alcohol to those under 21 puts the safety of others at risk.”
From October 2018 through February 2020, the on-duty clerk sold alcohol to six separate minors, 15 separate juveniles and to a police decoy on two separate occasions. The Los Angeles Police Department West Los Angeles division vice unit issued many of the citations, as well as agents from ABC. The most recent disciplinary action resulted in a 30-day suspension of the license, with revocation stayed 180 days to permit transfer of the license. The licensee failed to transfer the license during this time resulting in the revocation. The license was previously suspended in July 2020.
