COUNTY – On Saturday, December 4, 2021, California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agents teamed with Kings County Sheriff’s Office deputies to conduct a minor decoy operation within Kings County. The minor decoy program uses supervised individuals under the age of 20 who attempt to purchase alcohol at ABC licensed stores, bars and restaurants.
The team of law enforcement officers visited 17 retail establishments within Kings County. The clerks at 16 of the businesses used proper protocol, requesting to see identification and denied the minor decoy alcohol. A violation occurred at one of the locations, Bravo Farms in Kettleman City and the employee was issued a citation for selling alcohol to a minor.
“ABC agents, along with their local law enforcement partners are very effective in educating the public and those who sell or serve alcohol about the dangers of underage drinking and the legal consequences for selling, serving or furnishing alcohol to someone under 21,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona. “These operations work to protect all of us from the dangers associated with underage drinking.”
