DELANO -On Saturday, December 17, 2022, agents with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) along with officers from the Delano Police Department Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team cited one alcohol server at Culichi Town located at 481 Woollomes Avenue for selling alcohol to customers under 21 years of age, and cited three people under-21 for purchasing alcohol.
The actions were the result of an ABC general enforcement operation in which law enforcement officers visited various establishments throughout the City of Delano, focusing on underage drinking at ABC licensed premises.
As a result of the operation, the server was arrested, cited, and released on a notice to appear citation for furnishing alcohol to a minor, a misdemeanor violation of Business and Professions Code (BPC) 25658(a). The three minors were also arrested, cited, and released on a notice to appear citation for purchasing alcohol under the age of 21, which is a misdemeanor violation of BPC 25658(b).
In addition, ABC may take administrative action against the alcoholic beverage license of the business where the alcohol was sold to minors. This may include, a fine, a suspension of the license, or the permanent revocation of the license.
“These operations help to educate servers, and underage customers who purchase alcohol,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona. “In addition, preventing people under-21 from consuming alcohol works to protect the public.”
