MODESTO – On March 16, 2023, California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agents posted a Notice of Suspension at West Side Market located at 401 Maze Boulevard in Modesto for illegal activity at the premises. The license has been suspended indefinitely and will be revoked if not transferred to a different owner within 180 days.

The suspension is the result of an investigation in which ABC agents uncovered evidence of illegal gambling and narcotics at the business. As a result of the investigation, ABC agents seized approximately eight pounds of marijuana, packaging material commonly used for illegal narcotics sales, and items used to facilitate the illegal gambling operation.

“Illegal activity such as this can pose a danger to customers and neighboring communities.  ABC agents investigate licensees, enforcing rules and regulations, working to  increase public safety and quality of life.  We thank them for their service,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona.
