KINGS COUNTY – On June 1, 2023, California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agents and Kings County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies conducted a minor decoy operation within Kings County.
The minor decoy operation uses supervised individuals under the age of 21 who attempt to purchase alcohol at ABC-licensed premises. Any sale of alcohol to a minor decoy may result in criminal and administrative sanctions for the employee and licensee.
The team of ABC agents and KCSO deputies visited seven retail establishments within Kings County. Three of the establishments used proper protocol and the minor decoy was denied alcohol. At four locations, the minor decoy obtained alcohol and the employee was issued a citation for selling alcohol to a minor. Those offenses occurred at –
Pizza King; 10668 14th Avenue, Armona
Boston House of Pizza; 1180 W. Bush St, Lemoore
Chalio’s; 33225 Hubert Way, Kettleman City
Denny’s; 27585 Bernard Drive, Kettleman City
“These operations are very important as they educate servers and licensees, and work to keep alcohol from being served or sold to those under 21. Underage drinking can lead to vehicle accidents, behavior that results in crime and or violence, and puts our communities at risk. We thank ABC agents for working with local law enforcement officers to conduct these operations,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona.
