OXNARD – On June 28, 2025, the Oxnard Police Department with assistance from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), cited one store clerk in the City of Oxnard for selling alcohol to a minor. The actions were the result of a minor decoy operation in which a decoy under the age of 21 and under the direct supervision of law enforcement officers, attempted to purchase alcohol from nine retail licensees in the City of Oxnard.
The clerk who sold alcohol to the minor could face a minimum fine of $250, and/or 24 to 32 hours of community service for a first violation. In addition, ABC will take administrative action against the alcoholic beverage license of the business where alcohol was sold to a minor. That may include a fine, a suspension of the license, or the permanent revocation of the license.
Compliance checks are conducted statewide to reduce the availability of alcohol to people under the age of 21. Statistics have shown that young people under the age of 21 have a higher rate of drunk driving fatalities than the general adult population.
“Compliance checks conducted by California ABC agents and their local law enforcement partners work to keep all Californians safe out on the road and in our communities,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona. “This continued effort works to save lives and protect citizens from harm.”
