On December 14, 2023, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the arrest of the suspected leader of a large-scale, multistate recycling fraud ring who allegedly stole approximately $4.3 million from the California Recycling Fund.
On December 6, 2023, the Placer County District Attorney’s Office announced the conviction of Arron Dare, 25, for second-degree murder relating to the fentanyl death of a young woman in August 2022.
Nineteen suspects were arrested as part of a three-day multiagency operation that targeted child predators in Kings County. Operation “White Elephant” targeted adults seeking to sexually exploit children and victims of sex trafficking, using undercover agents and detectives posing as minors offering sex for pay on applications and websites commonly used by predators.
The San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force (SDHTTF) announced the results of Operation Home for the Holidays which was a multi-jurisdictional operation that concluded on November 30, 2023. SDHTTF uses undercover officers to target human trafficking who arrest potential traffickers and offer support to survivors.
